The Monorails are great and there are three routes - one is between Sahara and the MGM Grand. Then there is the Excalibur and Mandalay Bay line that goes through Luxor. The last is a short line between Treasure Island and the Mirage. The Ttreasure Island to Mirage Tram goes from 9 am to midnight and the tram goes about every 15-20 minutes. It is only about a five minute ride. The MGM to Sahara stretch has seven stops and goes from 7 am to 2 am. A ticket to ride is $5 but you can get a book of ten for a good saving. You can buy tickets at the machine inside every station. You can also get an unlimited One Day Ticket for about $15 and there is also a three day unlimited monorail travel ticket for about $40.
Trolley buses go from the South Strip to The Stratosphere and you need the exact fare of about $2 They stop at all the major hotels. The trolley is a pretty slow mover but very pleasant and nostalgic way to travel.
The CAT - Citizens Area Transport run the buses and there are many many routes but the most important for tourists are the 301 and 302. Ask you hotels for more details.
